Sheikh / Ali Almajdouie Award for supporting the natural honey industry
Within the activities of the Fourth International Conference

Introduction:
The competition aims to contribute to the development of honey packaging, display, marketing and highlighting all that is new in the field of bees, and to create a spirit of competition between honey exhibitors and the exhibitors of beekeeping tools and supplies, at the Fourth International Conference of the Arab Beekeeping Association, which is held in conjunction with the launch of the International Honey Festival Fourteenth in Al Baha region, 3 prizes were allocated for the category of best liquid honey (dark, golden, creamy), a prize for the category of best crystallized honey, and a prize for the category of best honeycombs, according to international standards approved in the evaluation of honey offering competitions under the auspices and supervision of the Cooperative Association of Beekeepers in Al Baha.
All exhibitors at the conference and festival can participate in various competitions, and each participant will receive the criteria that the arbitrators will adopt in evaluating the participation, which includes laboratory criteria as well as general quality standards. The evaluation results and award winners will be announced on the last day of the conference, July 19, 2022.
General rules and instructions:
- An international jury will be formed, including some local experts not participating in the award.
- To ensure the complete impartiality of the judging, so that the name of the participant in the competition does not appear to the members of the jury.
- The participant’s consent to participate in the competition in accordance with the rules, instructions and standards approved for the competition.
- The jury determines the results of the evaluation of the various criteria and announces the results to the participants.
- It is allowed to participate in the liquid honey competition for one category only (dark, golden or creamy honey).
- One contestant is allowed to participate in the liquid and crystallized honey competition and the honeycomb competition.
- The competition entry form must be filled out for each sample containing all the required information and attached to the samples.
- It is not allowed to retrieve the samples sent after the end of the competition, as they are considered the property of the conference.
- Samples that do not conform to the standard specifications will be excluded from participating in the competition.
- It is not allowed to touch the samples during the exhibition or to take any of them at the end of the exhibition.
- The jury's decision is final and not subject to appeal.
- The jury will award all winners (amounts of money+ certificate of honor).
- The jury requires that the winner be present while receiving the award, and registered as part of the conference attendance.
Sample Receipt:
- The contestant shall deliver the samples in person or send them by post office accompanied by the samples form (click here to download the form).
- The conference is not responsible for any costs related to shipping, transportation and receiving operations.
- Samples are received daily from 8 am to 3 pm at the following address:

No samples will be received after June 20, 2022.
First: Conditions for participating in the liquid honey competition:
1. Delivery of 1 kg divided into two (2) samples of the same specifications and quality of honey (one for chemical analysis, the second for display).
2. The containers shall be of smooth clear glass with a metal lid similar to Figure 1.
3. The containers shall be cylindrical in shape.
4. Not to stick any tag or put any distinctive mark on the packages sent.
5. It is required to clean liquid honey containers and their lids.
6. It is required to fill the containers, leaving a vertical space as shown in the picture.
7. Honey is required to be free of defects and impurities and crystallization, and that it be homogeneous and of natural color.
The characteristics of the best quality liquid honey:
-Harmony
- Impurities free
- Free from foreign matter such as wax residues
- Free of air bubbles
-free of foam (white layers floating on the surface)
- Natural smell and taste
-sanitation
The award:
First place : 5000 SAR
Second place : 3000 SAR
3rd place : 2000 SAR
Second: Conditions for participation in the competition for crystallized honey (granulated):
1. Delivery of 1 kg divided into two (2) samples of the same specifications and quality of honey (one for chemical analysis, the second for display).

3. The containers shall be cylindrical in shape.
4. Not to stick any tag or put any distinctive mark on the packages sent.
5. It is required to clean liquid honey containers and their lids.

7. Honey is required to be free of defects and impurities and crystallization, and that it be homogeneous and of natural color.
Quality characteristics of crystallized honey:
- The uniformity of crystals in size
- degree of crystallization (full or partial)
- Impurities free
- The degree of hardening (crystallization) of honey
- Free from foreign matter
- Natural smell and taste
- sanitation
Honey samples (liquid and crystallized) will be analyzed according to the following criteria:
1. Moisture content
2. Sucrose content
3. Glucose content
4. Fructose content
5. Acidity
6. Ash
7. HMF
8. Diastase activity
*** Non-conforming samples will be excluded from participation, and samples will not be returned to the contestant.
The award:
First place : 5000 SAR
Second place : 3000 SAR
3rd place : 2000 SAR
Third: Conditions for participation in the honeycomb competition:
1. Delivery of one (1) whole, undivided honeycomb.
2. The honeycomb should be placed in a package with a transparent top and bottom.
3. Not to stick any tag or put any distinctive mark on the packages.
4. Clean packaging is required.
Quality characteristics of the honeycomb competition:
- Maturity (complete and closed honey cells)
- Color of the comb
- Smell and taste
- Flattening the top and bottom surfaces of the combs
- Presence of pollen

Conditions for participation in the competition for the best pavilion participating in the exhibition:
- The beauty of the display (shelves, etc.).
- Explanatory and introductory panels for the product (banners, etc.).
- The aesthetic and uniqueness of the method used to decorate the display.
- Explanatory information accompanying the presentation (communication means, publications, etc.)
- Comprehensiveness and diversity of tools.
- Quality of products.
- Showing the country of origin or the manufacturer on the product, if possible.
